TRAINING AT WUYI
Programs
Traditional and contemporary Chinese martial arts taught with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, sound technique, health, practical skill, and lifelong learning.
KUNG FU
Traditional Northern Shaolin Kung Fu
Training develops a broad foundation in Chinese martial arts through fundamental techniques, forms, weapons, conditioning, and practical self-defense. Emphasis is placed on coordination, balance, strength, mobility, and efficient movement while skills are developed progressively over time.
Students build a strong technical foundation that can support many goals—from health and fitness to deeper study of forms, weapons, applications, and self-defense.
Kung Fu and Contemporary Wushu are taught together in a combined class, providing students with a strong foundation in both disciplines.

WUSHU
Contemporary Wushu
Contemporary Wushu is a modern Chinese martial art practiced as both a competitive sport and a performance art. It emphasizes athleticism, precision, and expressive movement through fundamental techniques, forms, and weapons. Training develops flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, strength, and body control.
Students progress according to their ability and experience, developing the physical foundation and technical skills needed for increasingly challenging forms and movements.
Contemporary Wushu complements Traditional Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, and both disciplines are taught together in the same class.
TAI CHI
Yang Style Tai Chi
Training develops balance, coordination, mobility, body awareness, and relaxed strength through slow, deliberate movement and careful attention to posture and alignment. Emphasis is placed on fundamental Tai Chi principles, sound technique, and efficient movement.
Tai Chi can be practiced throughout life, offering a method of continued learning and skill development while supporting health, movement, and physical well-being.

TAI CHI FOR HEALTH
Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention
Based on Sun Style Tai Chi, this specialized program uses gentle, controlled movements to improve balance, strength, mobility, coordination, and confidence in movement. Exercises can be adapted to different levels of physical ability, making the program accessible to a wide range of participants.
Developed by Dr. Paul Lam and a team of medical and Tai Chi specialists, this evidence-based program combines traditional Tai Chi principles with a structured approach to improving health and physical function. Research supports its benefits for managing arthritis symptoms, improving balance and mobility, and reducing fall risk among older adults.
Tai Chi and Health: What the Research Shows
